Isaiah 11:6 2 Thessalonians 2:15 |

For it is shown in verse 8 that “You will again obey the voice of the L-rd and do all His commandments which I command you today.” And again in verse 15 “See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil, in that I command you today to love the L-rd your G-d, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments.” It is for this reason that Moses wrote the books of instruction passed on to us. Yet even as they were written G-d told Moses as recorded in Chapter 31 verse 15– 18 that the people would go astray and serve other G-ds. A song was even written to maintain the witness against such behavior. It was known from the onset that man could not obtain his own salvation.
And though we obey His commandments out of love we still cannot ever obtain our own salvation. Isaiah 63:5— “I looked, but there was no one to help, and I wondered that there was no one to uphold; Therefore, My own arm brought salvation for Me.” The L-rd G-d is our salvation and only in our trust in Him do we have hope.
Therefore let us go forth preparing for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, looking at our own shortcomings toward G-d and man, seeking repentance while choosing life through following His commandments from a circumcised heart, out of love, while fully embracing His grace that had Him bring salvation from His own arm.
