An idea was born and discussed as to feasibility. No one was combining a learning center with a place for local groups to meet for Board meetings and conferences.
After a lot of prayer, thought, and brainstorming sessions, it was decided there was a need for a place that would be: |
What type of activities does the Learning Center have?Let’s travel back in time to experience the Biblical Feasts and Festivals (especially the Pilgrim Festivals of Pesach, Shavuot, and Succoth.) Through improving our understanding of the culture, verbal context, original languages, historical and political context, and archeology of the Bible Times we can bring scripture to life.
· Learn the Ancient Biblical House Greetings and Gifts of Hospitality · Visit exhibits and learn of everyday life in Bible Times with models like: The Threshing Floor, Stone Quarry, Second Temple Tomb, Living Waters, Crosses of the Crucifixion, The Tent of Abraham, The Olive Press, a Stable with Mangers, a Wine Press, a Chuppah, and Watch Tower. · While visiting the Tent of Abraham, Old Hannah, or one of her tribe, will share traditional ‘wisdom’ storytelling just like her ancient Biblical ancestors. Enjoy sipping tea in the tent, while learning more about the lifestyle of the Patriarchs and Matriarchs of Bible Times. Glean a deeper understanding of the Shepherd Psalms of David... Gain a more profound understanding of apparently simple objects and statements from the Bible within the culture and history of the times. See things from the mindset of our ancient ancestors. · Gain an understanding and appreciation of Hebrew ritual objects such as the Tallit (prayer shawl), Shofar, Mezuzah, and the Chuppah. · Learn what life was like in Jerusalem in the shadow of the Temple – before the Temple was destroyed by the Romans in 70 CE. · For Christians, we will explore the question “What DID Jesus (Yeshua) do?” – How did Jesus live His Jewish life? Understand the Jewish life cycle customs of the First Century. What we learn will give us a greater understanding of Biblical family values that will enrich our lives in significant and positive ways! · Let’s travel, together, back to experience the Biblical Feasts of Pesach (Passover), Shavuot (The Feast of Weeks) and Succoth (the Feast of Tabernacles). Throughout the year ,we will offer opportunities for visitors to experience a bit of the Levitical Feasts and Festivals at the Biblical Garden with music, messages and traditional meals. We will not overlook Purim (The Feast of Esther) or Hanukah (The Festival of Lights and Rededication). · Experience the traditional Sabbath meal with teaching – Learn some Sabbath songs and prayers. · A Taste of Aliyah Meals- Come and hear the stories of Jews who have returned to the land of their Biblical ancestors as stated in prophecy and feast on traditional Jewish foods from around the world! · Opportunity for understanding the Biblical Jewish Wedding under the Chuppah (The Wedding Canopy). Wedding parties for the renewal of vows are encouraged. (Reserve in advance.)

How would this be done? We looked at available sites and we found a site in Ein Kerem that had been used as a Biblical Museum that, although run down, could be repaired and brought back up to meet our vision. |
The Bible Time Learning Centre of Ein Kerem offers a remarkable opportunity for Christians and Jews to experience a deeper understanding of the use and spiritual lessons that are drawn from seeing examples of ancient Biblical models and eating the food of the ancient Biblical feasts and festivals. These models are located in a beautiful, peaceful garden in the pleasant village of Ein Kerem. (Christian tradition says John the Baptist was born in Ein Kerem.) |
