A roof is urgently needed for a family living in sub-standard construction. We would like to raise funds immediately for this project and accomplish it before the rains begin in October. |

In July we were invited to visit the home of a Syrian Christian man whom Richard has known over a year. Despite his humble living conditions, the hospitality was not lacking as his wife was pleased to serve us watermelon. I marveled at how pleased they were that we had come to see them! Mr Z. is industrious, working 50-60 hours / week to support his family.
Z. lives there with his wife and young children, next to the family property that has been in his family for 100 years just inside Damascus Gate. I can’t say that he lives in the house, because he doesn’t.
He lives outside the walls of the house, having added walls to create living space. They are not able to heat the space in winter, at all, because the heat goes straight out the gaps of the tin pieced overhead and around the corners into the outside air. |

The Old City Jerusalem is fascinating with its varying construction of buildings. This is in the section known as the Christian Quarter, which today is mostly Muslim, with a blend of Jews and Christians also living there. |

OK, folks, now it’s your turn!
I know that you guys who are talented in construction over there are just itching to catch the next flight over and get to work on this. Youth groups, here’s an excellent need for your next philanthropic fundraising project!
Think things over and send us a monetary gift ASAP specifically to get this done. Your spirit will soar, knowing you have done a good deed!
We will hire good people on your behalf to give us an estimate, and carry out the renovation. Of course we will keep you updated here regarding the progress!
THANK YOU in advance. These are good people who need the help. They don’t know that there are people who have never met them who will care enough to reach out. We are anxious to see what / how G-d provides! Donate here |

Main room. |

Looking up at the “ceiling / roof ”. See the daylight? Every screw leaks. |
|
Main room. The refrigerator is in the living room;
the kitchen used to not have a roof at all, for six years… unimaginable, but true. |

During the rainy season when the temperature drops the local stray cats come into the “house” looking for a dry place. Because there are no closed walls to form actual rooms it is always a cat & mouse game of chasing them out, and picking up after them... |

BELOW: There is also the issue of exposed wiring in the bathroom, and a hole in the wall for the window, but the roof is THE primary issue right now. |
